Statement of Interest

Academic Interests
General design theory, social theory, and critical theory as they apply to the manifestation of form and structure. Methods through which to rethink current trends in global development and progress toward greater sustainability and global equity. The misattribution of utopian agency to new technologies and the nature of utopia in general.
Long Term Goals
Addressing issues of design, especially as they pertain to globalization, internationalization, universal access, sustainability and development. Coming to a better understanding of non-Western perspectives these issues.

Strict adherence to standards and best practices with a focus on WAI and Section 508 compliance, universal design, W3C Guidelines, usability, information architectures, and project management skills. Coverage of both client-side and server-side programming with a strong emphasis on hand coding. Expanding emphasis on XML-based network applications.
